This is one aspect of outdoor life that can put a lot of people off completely. We were keen to use a composting toilet, but became aware that many people wouldn’t want to use some of the more basic designs. That’s why we’ve invested in a state of the art composting toilet from Sancor. The Envirolet® DC12 is a Waterless Self-Contained Composting Toilet system which uses dual 12V fans to create ideal condition for composting. From the users point of view, the toilet is a robust plastic construction, which is easy to clean and sterilise, and has absolutely no smell. If you want to know more, go to Envirolet the company who produces these toilets.
The shower is fed from a 120 litre mains pressure hot water cylinder. The water is heated by solar panels and by the wind generator via an immersion heater. This system gives a surprisingly powerful shower, and a generous amount of hot water. It should be noted however that larger groups will need to be careful not to exhaust the hot water before everyone’s finished.
A good days fishing followed by a barbeque of your catch is hard to beat, so there’s a barbeque at your disposal. All you need is charcoal. We had a very successful spit roast leg of lamb last year, which we would be happy to try again if people are interested, and we’re also hoping to build a clay oven and fire pit oven this summer.
